The Panel advised government on the future direction of forestry and woodland policy in England, and on the role of the Forestry Commission in implementing it. The Panel published its Final Report on 4 July 2012 and has now completed its work.
The Gosport Independent Panel has been set up to address concerns raised by families over a number of years about the initial care of their relatives in Gosport War Memorial Hospital and the subsequent investigations into their deaths. The Panel will oversee the maximum possible public disclosure of all relevant documentary information.
The families endured 'The patronising disposition of unaccountable power'. The Prime Minister when Home Secretary commissioned this report so that the families' perspective would not be lost.
The Report identified historic documents that indicated the institutionalised shortening of 456 lives at the Gosport War Memorial Hospital in the 1990's.
